Have you ever found yourself looking over your shoulder just to get a few ideas about something you are working on with your friend? Have you ever noticed that there is a friend or a member of your family who always happens to know where to find particular things, or have you ever walked into a supermarket and wondered where to find a particular item?
It would be awesome if someone was always there to recommend things for you or even show you around. What if this person happens to be somebody you know, maybe a family member or a friend?
The +1 Button Can Change Your Life - Literally!
The +1 button enables you to recommend particular items of interest to people in your group.
Think of it as being a tip in the right direction from a person whose opinion you value.
Where to Find the +1
Your +1 buttons are stored in a new tab in your Google profile. The +1 gives you a varied choice of products in the ever-growing web market.
When you click +1 you are helping your friends and family and the rest of the world by pointing them to things you think they should check out. +1 helps a user to discover things, websites or ads from people who you can trust and already know.
Recommendations Coming From a Person They Trust - You!
Content recommended by family and friends is often more relevant - and trusted - than content from strangers. This eliminates the fear of scams. For example, a music review by a magazine, as much as it is authoritative, It may not be as convincing as a recommendation from a friend you share a common taste in music with.
+1's from friends and contacts can be a useful signal to Google when determining the significance of your page to a user's preference. +1 acts as a tour guide in a rather expansive web. People in a particular grouping tend to have similar tastes and preferences. Thus, +1 can create an easy way to access results that a particular person has already worked on.
+1 Indicates Authority
Results culminating from searches made from a person with authority in a certain field of study can be accessed easily, saving people the agony of lengthy research. +1's function is a one-click way to help family, friends and the world at large access information easily.
For example, a person looking for a gift can look into what that particular person needs or loves and be able to get more suitable gift for him or her.
Another example is that if an engineer wishes to find a place to buy his tools and supplies, he or she can see favorite suppliers of his fellow engineers and associates. Otherwise he would have had to search web without any recommendations to go on. Google +1 buttons help tell the popularity of a particular item or service including information.
So when you see the +1 button, remember that you're helping to develop a vast database of preferences and feedback that thousands of people will benefit from.
